Wolf Valley Buildings Materials: What They’re Made Of
July 9, 2025Wolf Valley Building Delivery Prep Guide
Bringing Home Your Building Shouldn’t Be a Headache
You’ve picked your floor plan, chosen your colors, and signed the paperwork. Now comes the part most people get a little nervous about: delivery. But don’t worry—this building delivery prep guide will walk you through how to prepare your property for a smooth, stress-free setup day with Wolf Valley Buildings. ✅
From making sure your site is ready to knowing what to expect when the truck arrives, here’s everything you need to know to ensure your building shows up safely and fits like a glove.
Why Delivery Prep Matters
Your building is custom-built, heavy, and large. Delivery isn’t just about dropping it off—it’s about navigating your property, ensuring proper setup, and protecting your investment. A little preparation up front can save you from costly mistakes (like needing a second trip or dealing with drainage issues later on). That is where this building delivery prep guide comes in.
Whether you’re getting a storage shed, home office, or tiny home, here’s how to get your land delivery-ready.
Step 1: Check Access to the Site
Our buildings are delivered on a truck and trailer system, which means we need clearance, turning space, and a level approach. Here’s what to check:
Width clearance: At least 14 feet of width on roads, gates, and driveways.
Height clearance: No low-hanging tree limbs or wires—15 feet minimum is ideal.
Turning radius: Is there enough space to back in and turn out? Think like a delivery truck.
Obstacles: Stumps, rocks, fences, or steep grades can block delivery. These should be cleared ahead of time.
🚧 Pro tip: Walk the delivery path as if you were driving a 30-foot trailer through it. You’ll spot issues fast.
Step 2: Prepare a Level Site
Your building needs a solid, level base to sit properly. If it’s not level, doors and windows may shift over time—and that’s no good for a structure built to last.
You have a few options:
Gravel pad – Our top recommendation: affordable, excellent drainage, and easy to level.
Concrete slab – More permanent and precise, but not always necessary.
Pier blocks – Great for tiny homes or uneven terrain.
Level ground – Acceptable for temporary or smaller units, but not ideal long-term.
📐 We’ll block and level the building on delivery, but the more prep you do ahead of time, the better the result.
Step 3: Consider Drainage and Water Flow
Even a great shed or tiny home can’t fix a soggy foundation. Before delivery, check your site’s:
Slope – Water should run away from the building.
Soil – Avoid low-lying or flood-prone areas.
Drainage – You might need gravel, French drains, or berms to redirect water.
💦 Poor drainage can lead to rot, mold, or settling issues. Let’s avoid that altogether.
Step 4: Make Room for Our Delivery Crew
When our delivery crew arrives, they’ll need room to:
Unload the building
Turn and back up
Set blocks and level the structure
Walk around the building to finish setup
Clear the area of pets, kids, vehicles, and lawn equipment. A clean work zone makes for a faster, safer delivery.
🛻 Bonus tip: If you won’t be home for delivery, let us know in advance. We’ll confirm placement and setup instructions with you.
Step 5: Communicate With Our Team
The most important prep tool? Communication. Once your delivery is scheduled, we’ll:
Confirm the location and access route

What to Expect on Delivery Day
On delivery day, here’s what typically happens:
Our driver arrives and inspects the site.
The building is carefully unloaded using a mule or trailer.
We position it exactly where you want it.
We block and level the building.
You inspect it and give final sign-off.
The whole process can take 30–90 minutes depending on access and prep.
📸 We may even snap a photo or two for our gallery—after all, it’s a big day!

A little site prep now saves a lot of stress later. We’ve delivered thousands of buildings, and the smoothest ones are always the ones where the customer did just a bit of planning ahead.
